360 deg startrail panoroma - first real attempt

it was my attempt to catch the Perseids meteor shower. (This morning)
As Humayun pointed out (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=110855) I probably didn't ;-(
So I turned it into a 360 degree panorama - yes I have done the panoramas before, but not the star trails.

How did you do it? Multiple cameras, multiple days or do the trails not line up time wise?

Ahh, that's a secret, (not sure if I should tell ;-) you can do it a couple of ways!:
(1) Use a 14mm lens and take multiple shots in one direction - around 12-20 minutes worth. then rotate the camera. That's enough to create the effect. Bit or a bugger to stitch;
(2) Use a 14mm lens to take one shot in each direction and keep circling (around and around for an hour) - ends up with a nice result, a lot of effort. There are some apps that can fill the gaps between the star trails created - it's a balance between shot duration and filling the gap; or
(3) Point an 8mm circular fish-eye up. not too technical I know, but I was actually chasing meteors (this is what I did). This was just a secondary consideration. loss in definition compared to the other options.

I must say my due heater did an orsm job, my camera, tripod, battery and shutter release were totally soaked after an hour.

My aim is to get much longer trails (6-7 hours) this is a bit over an hour. but that takes dedication.
