Hi everyone,

Just back from my technical support officer. The lesson today was processing avis.

This is image from 2 June 20 fps. Wished I had tried 5 fps, but didn't.

Nice image Lester.

The processing's a tad harsh for my liking, as evidenced by the blue ring at lower right limb, but plenty of colour and detail.

Each to their own:)

incredible starkness of detail Lester, but perhaps a tad over-processed for my eyes;)

Thanks Robert and Matt,

Yes I realise I may have gone a bit far, but was amazed at the detail that came out. Like I said it was unfortunate that I only captured at 10 and 20 fps that night, and the 10 fps has major horizontal lines across it.

Stacks of detail, Lester. Great shots.

I can't wait to see what you can do with the DMK.

Did you get yours today? Mine didn't show up yet :( Although you live a lot closer to the place of post :)

Thanks Asi,

Yes I realise you are a hard man to please when it comes to onion rings or in this case horizontal lines.

But if you say its good, I take that as a compliment.

Just checked the position of GRS, should be good by 10:00. I will hang off till 9:00 unless you start reporting 5+ by Asi laptop reading measurements.

Just did another stack of 1200 frames. Eliminated all but 386 frames. 75% gain & 15% gamma & I've got onion rings :scared:

Lester

If you have got onion rings, my whole observatory would soon be filled with the eye watering vapor. Jupiter must be pulsing like ............................... any way like something that is pulsing, what ever that is.

Just went out to check the star twinkle, couldn't detect any above 40 degrees, (what ever that means) will check again in 20 minutes to see if its getting better or not.

Just stacked another one, same scenerio. Respectable details but with one big onion ring going 3/4 of the way around the circ. of jupiter.

Nothing to be done really. If I go above 80% gain & go quicker exposure time it will kill it but at the expensive of having a grainy final.

Seeing rulez!

Asi this is the first time I have heard you mention onions with the 900 toucam. So is this the worst night for quite a while?

Lester
23-06-2006, 09:39 PM
The star twinkle test is not getting any better.

asimov

I just restacked that 2nd AV. I've got what I would say good detail. The one onion can be proccessed out by darkening the limb of the planet.

Give it a shot Lester, even though I can't detect it with the eye (yet) the seeing is slowly getting better. After saying that it could suddenly turn & get a lot worse! ;)

Wish I could upload this pic & show you but I'm on the other computer at present.

Good luck & good onion killing :)

Lester

Okay mate, Packed the big onion killer, catch ya in an hour or so.

Lester

Oh! Can't complain.

Neximage was on death row! If I was on death row I would pull my finger out and do what I had to do. Will post first processed image shortly on new thread, its prity average though by your standards.:P

How about yourself?????;)
