Just thought I should check now I've moved to the "top"(?) of the world! Who else is north of the equator?
I'm in Israel, on the northern coastline of Israel.
Cheers
eric
Me too. :D
Well not Israel but I'm just out of Alicante city in Spain which is a southerly change from my last location in Belgium.
It's an amazing change in location too, I can actually see the MW despite have about 10 street lights around. Maybe not as good as the shores of Lake Bonney in SA but it'll do nicely for now.

I am probably the most far north: in Holland (unless there are Scandinavians or Aussies living in Scandinavia on this forum).

I'm presently in HangZhou, China.
It was a lazy 45 degrees here the other day. Looking at a cool 39 for today...
Can't wait to get home to rainy, windy Sydney.

And you are sorely missed my friend. Who is going to take care of that pesky SV camp security light??????

Wow ... A really sunny day here - real blue sky for the first time. If this holds I *might* see some stars tonight !
Down in the midlands the night sky is pretty disappointing even though I was in the countryside.

In Aviemore tonight, 57 degrees north. If the weather holds I'm hoping to catch andromeda around midnight when it should be fairly dark here.
Don't forget the Moon is out tonight big and bright.

Yep, shining down here as well. But I have a lot of people who will enjoy looking at the Moon from the middle of the city! Come on scopes, hurry that ship up!
Hi Eric
Good to hear your settling in at your new digs.
It must be a fantastic place to explore, new sights and sounds and all that ancient history.
Cheers

Eric
I will be in the northern hemisphere in about 2 weeks, flying to London to 2 weeks in the UK then a month in Europe. Will probably fly a bit north of you on the way there!

Hehe I'm off to the Orkneys tomorrow, on a day trip sightseeing - some really ancient history !
Last night at Aviemore the moon was hiding behind clouds (weather in Scotland is crap 99% of he time) but I did manage to spy M31 naked eye, which is a lot more than can be said further south.
In the Peak District in the midlands I figured the naked eye limit for stars is at best about 2.5 or 3. It looks clear and dark, but isn't, and a couple of shots with my camera confirmed the night sky is a dirty brown.
Apparently there's an effort to make th Northumberland national park a designated dark sky area and attempt to control lighting, but IMHO its probably a waste of time as the air is neither clear nor is it particularly dark... The Cairngorms are about the only area left, if you put up with the weather.

Yeah. I sure don't miss the Scottish weather!
Strange, when we were in Scotland last(?) November it was the best weather I had seen for years albeit a bit chilly.
I even had the experience of watching Leonids whilst being snowed on.
I suppose that's more a reflection on just how incredibly dull the weather is in Belgium.
