Introduction & 19th June Jupiter

Hello all
Just a quick introduction as I'm new to this forum..
I hail from Melbourne (where its usually cloudy) & have been imaging the planets for some years now.
Although I started my imaging with a home-made cookbook 245 camera, I am currently using a Philips ToUcam with a borrowed vintage C14 (with a bad focuser & collimation problems!)
I am looking forward to sharing some images & processing techniques with everyone.

That is a fantastic shot for 4/10 conditions, detail everywhere. Like to see what you can do with 8+ conditions. Those C14s are really something.

Hey Maurice, I rememer your trio of mars shots from the 2003 apparition that won, was it David Malin? award of similar? Anyway, this too is beautiful in the extreme, absolutely incredible detail, moreso given the conditions. Ganymede looks more like Mars in it's later stages here:eyepop:

great stuff... only problem is you've got me wishing for a c14 again ... I go through these phases regularly, get a quote, take a big dose of reality, and then get back to what I have;)

I'd be interested in members of this forum sharing some frames from their avis just to give novices like me some idea on what I should be aiming for on screen before I capture a video file. I've come to the opinion that the hard work is at the front end--namely the avi and that although processing is important you can't create the Mona Lisa from sh..!!

Spot on, seeing (ie atmosphere and NO tube currents) is #1 for the capturing of great data!

Here is the single best frame from a few weeks back. The seeing was 8.5/10. Take note of the noise due to higher gain, but that is fine, stacking will eliminate it

The only thing i would do differently here is make it brighter or more gamma
