Some 640x480 LPI Moonage

Hi all, Hope everone is eating up photons at Duckadang, Beeaauut Weather hey ! I'll be Dropping in for the fri arvo, have a quick squizz & meet some of you IISérs :thumbsup:

Also, here a few pics of some moonage from mid last month, I think with the 10" Newt ? The old Meade LPI, 1/3 Mp actually decided to track this time, never done that before in the 5yrs Ive had it ? ? ? So, was able to collect 50 odd frames on average which smoothed the results out heaps !

1st ) Three great craters, low center, from Left to Right : Ptolemaeus 158Km Diam, Alphonsus & Aezachel !

2nd ) Mountains, Montes Apenninus, Highest peak 5400m.
For matter of interest, The Snowey Mountains Mnt Kosciuszko 2,230m.
Mnt Everest 8,800m

3rd ) Vallis Alpes, dark streak right of center, 134km length 13km at widest. Some nearby mountain peaks reaching 3,300m hieght

4th ) Big Dark Patch top left, Mare Crisium.
Dark Patch low right quadrant, Mare Tranquillitatis

5th ) Crater with central peak at left, Walter Q,
And some interesting craters just left of center crushing one another.

Just look again after coming home Bob. LPI Man there good, I have one of those and DSI Pro 11(Ithink) never been used. Still in the original box.
Might sell them!!!!

Good stuff mate. Need better seeing that's all! The Meade LPI is no slouch, particularly on the moon & the capture software concept of allocating what seeing range to allow for & then stack on the fly is actually way ahead of it's time once you work it out;)

I have used the LPI on planets with an old C8 with ok results but gathering enough light was always the drawback ! Your comments have encouraged this duck to try again :thumbsup:

Thanx Ted. The LPI Image capture software has a tracking & Stacking function which tracks, alligns and stacks the images whilst they are collected, you can physically see the image grow as your capturing ! Very clever !
The LPI has always tracked on planets as they are smaller and the screen has a totally black background sky around the planet, so the program can easily determine the tracking/stacking of the target planet, but with the moon, the whole field is quite bright, thus hindering this function, but this was the 1st time the software had tracked on the moon ? ?
By the way, I was This time) using a 10" Newt, tracking with the Neq6p mount, but not guiding, thus the moon was drifting a little !
