M17 Hyperstar - repo added

Hi All.

Finally processed my data of Omega. Subs were shot on the same night as my Helix image back on the 6 July.

I've created some calibration frames since the Helix post (it was a stack of lights only) and have applied master bias and master dark frames to this image. Flats however, have been at odds with me. I've found it hard to get decent data in the red channel due to the CLS filter, anyway I'll get there one day :)

M17 - Taken with 60Da with hyperstar lens / C11 Edge HD.

Total 26 minutes 15,30,60 and 90 sec subs, unguided (no biggy, FL 588mm)

Great shot Rod but your data is severly clipped. Check your black point and you'll have one for the poolroom. Beaute field. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I have always wondered about star images with hyperstar optics. I must say this looks very good in the corners. Great value and result vs. some of the megabuck systems out there.

Great result Rod! I wish I had done the same when I had a C11 many years ago. To be able to collect data at F/1.8 turns the system into a serious astrograph. Looks like your approach to data acquisition is perfect. Just need to focus on the post processing a little more and I'm certain we'll see some stunning results. Well done and keep it up.

Thanks Marc, yeah clipped a bit there , probably because of the absence of flats I was trying to cancel out some Gradient. I did use Pixinghts DBE but couldn't remove it all.

Probably need to stop processing and posting when half asleep at 1:00am :P

Thanks Jase, I appreciate yours and everyone's feedback. I'm very happy with my system and please to say I've had more happy nights out under the stars than nights with swear words :P

I think if I can get the flats sorted and apply dithering to the acquisition, I'll have an easier time when both pre and post processing.

I’d make the image a touch sharper, how about running it in PixInsight through deconvultion with the following setup .. see picture below ..

The edge HD optics are a good "head start".

If I can get the same star results across field next time I set up, I'll be very happy. It'd be nice to have a permanent set up :astron:
