Thats got real potential, and the price didn't look too bad.

The opening is nice and large, so wide sky shots can be taken piggy back from the telescope. With the wide opening there is more of potential for wind buffeting, but you cannot have it both ways.

The reason I didn't go for the Sirus dome earlier this year was the small width of opening and price. This dome looks to fix both those problems.

Yeah Lester, one day (when I grow up...) I'd like to set up an observatory and there are pros and cons to all of them! It's a matter of really knowing what it is you need! (I'm convinced I don't know that yet!:lol: )

Unfortunately for show-offs like me who stick BIG scopes on EQ's it's way too small.

7'2" is suitable for the SCT and small refelector people, but the minimum I have to use is a 9' dome :(

I measured mine today from Pier to front of scope and it is a radius of 4', so even an 8' dome is no good. Plus my boys won't be able to use their 8" reflector in an 8' dome coz there's has a radius of 4'5".

So in my greed to have a biggy on an EQ I have to go minimum 9'.

Pity, coz the Skyshed Pod seems a good idea.

hi all didn'tb pacman have a eye,this to me looks like a copy of a dome brought out about 10 years ago called the clamshell,any fiberglass or poly dome would have to be about 4-5 thousand.i have a garden shed roll of roof 2.8 mts x2.9mts and just find enough room in it now,i think with the round dome in the inside would be to small,a 4mtr dome would be the smallest i would go

I agree Alan, there needs to be space to move around. When I get a 9 or 10 foot dome it will rest on top of a 10 - 12 foot square building, plus a warm room off the side. Gotta have somewhere to fit pooters, spare bits and pieces etc.
