Any thoughts or experience with Bresser refractors? I've been looking at this one at Astropetes.

I would prefer the f/5 version though which isn't listed there.

A 12.7cm f/5 refractor can be good even when it is an ordinary achro. But size/weight/price are well beaten by a Dobson of twice the aperture.
Where are you going to use it for ?
Always do a star test (or viewing a ISO-12233 chart) at maximum power (250x in this case) before pulling your credit or debit card.

Thanks skysurfer - I am going to use it primarily for visual viewing, as an RFT - I already have a Stellervue 80mm refractor for planets etc. I was under the impression that refractors provide equivalent viewing to a reflector about 2-3 inches bigger - but that being said, I have never owned a reflector...

 That's a great price for a nice scope .
Don't worry that its only an achromat , these are very good and the EQ5 mount is more than up to holding it well .
here is a moon shot taken thru my 127mm Istar achromat this morning at 3am and it mirrors what I was seeing in my 14mm eyepiece very closely .
Grab it and enjoy .
Brian.

I have had an 8" f5 reflector and the 6" f8 Frac I now have is about the same. The only difference is no colour on the reflector but secondary mirror spikes which I found more annoying on Planets than a tiny bit of blue/purple on bright objects....so go for it.
