Hi All,

As you know the LX200r OTA arrived yesterday..here it is.

Even though the weather is crap....I still managed to put the scope together keeping a close eye on the clouds.

Still awaiting the filter selector but here is some pics.

I also need to clean some of those cable up.

That williams optic focuser is a dream.

Something I forgot to mention was the OTA come with this large heavy and adjustabe dovetail..not sure what it will fit....its much wider and deeper then the LXD saddle...but not as wide as the losmandy.

Its fully adjustable and looks pretty good but no good to me as I dont know what it will fit.

Here are some pics.

HI Roger,

Its the Sbig ST-402XME guide camera....I am running it without the RGB filter wheel as used for guiding only ATM.

very shabby Tony! there seems to be too much bulk before the blue poncey focussing bit, need to get rid of that, and the small finder scope on the top should be on the right:P , the dew sheild needs to be hot pink so that it highlights the girly scope that it is:D  .

Jealosy is a terrible thing:rofl: . beautiful set up tony:thumbsup:

hahaha...yeah Robert.

The set up in spouse dollars did not cost me a cent...the sale of my previous equipment payed for the lot...get it

Oh my that looks a nice rig. An Sbig imager as a guide scope seems criminal!

I'm extremely envious, so much so that I've booked a flight to Brisbane and I'll be waiting on your doorstep in a couple of weeks time when you put it up for sale :P

Great looking setup Tony looking forward to seeing some pics and a review.
I wonder if the dovetail is for a new meade mount thats more in my league than the max mount , about time that they made a good german mount to replace the LX650 that was aparently a shocker.

It does not look like the maxmount dovetail but it's 100% better then any other standard dovetail I have seen in the meade range.

Hey guys....tonight is the first time I am testing my new scope...I put the Meade 6.3 FR on it and was shocked...the image is severly affected by vignetting...virtualy unuseable...I just did some searches on this and most people have found the common 6.3 FR do not work on the LX200R and RCX optics due to the Ritchy Crei optics....their saying the Focal reducer have a built in field flattner to reduce the curveture but this is not needed for this scope because of the flatter field.....there saying the Astro phisics RC focal reducer CCDT67 is the part to go for...and many refractor type focal reducer will do a better job.

Under CCD imaging part CCDT67

Any recomendations...because I hate imaging at F10.

you may have to sell it after all :P

Sell the observatory to pay for the CCDT67

hey thats not good on the part of the RC wont use the SCT reducer. Does meade offer anything or are they sticking by the current "products" saying that they are compatable?

Hi Tony,
I just got my WO focusser for my meade, your piccy shows it married up pretty close to the OTA, but mine seems to sit back about 4 or 5 mm ( like it's not screwed all the way in, but it is ) do you have an eye opener back or something ? or have you modified the rear thread of the OTA ?

I'm not happy hanging my camera or 2" wo diagonal and ep off of something not sitting up nice and close :)

Any thoughts ?

al.

HI Al,

I have the standard thread on the back of my LX200R and it also has a few mm gap....dont be concerned with this...the williams optic focuser has a heap of thread that it is bound too and believe me is very secure.

I have my Canon 350D hanging of the back of the focuser plus extension bars and a reducer making the camera sit a good 100mm back from the focuser....there is no movement or concern to be worried about.
