Tomorrow is the 21st, which means Earth's north pole will be tipped to the max (23.5o) toward the Sun. It marks the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere, and winter in the southern hemisphere.

Hi Sonia
The seasons in Australia "follow" the calendar, starting on the 1st day of the month as follows:
Winter: 1st June
Spring: 1st September
Summer: 1st December
Autumn: 1st March
Had me confused when I first moved here from the UK!
Cheers

Could have fooled me, I thought winter started 6 weeks ago :(

We 'phoned our friends (Skype) in England a couple of weeks ago and told them it was a chilly, but sunny, winter's day in Brisbane with a day time temp of 23 deg C.
They told us not to be so silly; that would be a hot summer's day in the UK with people at the beach paddling in the sea. Trousers rolled up with a knotted hanky on their heads.
Cheers
Dennis
