I shot this in early July over several nights while debugging my eq8 mount setup. I had power and usb issues which caused some grief but they where my fault, not anything to do with the mount, it has been pretty good.
So basically eq8 First Light.
NGC6188 + NGC6164 Narrowband.
12" GSO newt @ F3.8, Atik 11002, qhy5Lii + OAG.

That is a great image Robin. I like the faint loop (lower right) around NGC 6164/65.

Great image Robin, plenty of detail.
Always a nice to see the PN included in the FOV, especially with it's outer loop.

Great image Robin. Good to see the EQ8 performing.
Very very tidy image. Love your NB colours Robin.
What sort of exposure times? I'm still struggling to get OIII and SII for my season rendering of this sucker.
Actually, looking at the full size, GREAT image

Is 6164/65 a PN?

Excellent image Robin, I like the blue 6164 ....looks a bit crunchy at full res but when I shrink it to 50% in my browser, maaate, it really shines

All from your backyard in Carindale? How far from Westfield are you?

Thanks Guys. It always seems that no matter how much data you get with this narrowband stuff you always feel like you need more. Weather put a stop to that in this instance :)
It's a bit of a mixture Rob, I was getting a feel for the mount so subs range from 10 to 20 minutes all binned x 1. I lost a lot due to focus shift in the steel tubed newt but I think I got a handle on that now too.
Yes shot from the back yard but did the O3 when the moon was down.

It's certainly an awesome bit of sky.
I was hoping for more yellow but it was not to be. Next time ;)
Robin, perusing over many of your previous images in your gallery, you've done some great images. This image however clearly shows you've taken your imaging to a new level. Stunning result depicting the field accurately with the reflection nebulosity (GN 16.34.3) around HD 331019 well presented - not easy in narrowband images of this area. Good display of the narrowband colour range too. You mention perhaps more of the SII burnt orange/yellow would be good but I suspect you've hit the right balance or as near to it in order to get such a visually pleasing result. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it. Its working well for you. Looking forward to more.

Cheers Jason. This 12" newt really sucks in the light @ F3.8. I tried this a few times after seeing Mikes Dragons shot with both the fs-102 and an 8" RC and none of those images had the data in them this one has. I'm keen to see some RGB from it at Astrofest in a week or so, if it will fit in the Golf
