I'd like to put a website together for the astronomical spectroscopy group.
I can find "free" tempates on the web but my ol' MS Word 2003 just can't edit them without changing the graphics etc.
I need something better just to do the editting....It's suggested a old version of Dreamweaver may be the way to go.
Anyone want to sell their old Dreamweaver software?
Or any other (cheap) ideas???

All my html I've done in Notepad, Ken.

I did try Pagemill for a while, and Frontpage, but in the end I like complete control and to build light code... a hang over from the days of limited bandwidth.

Best free editor for making pages is Notepad++.

However I highly recommend Dreamweaver. I used this at university as well as during my web developer internship and it is a very user friendly program. There are three modes to make a page.
- Visual (shows the layout of the website)
- Code (purely code)
- Hybrid (both the above, so as you code you can see the changes taking place)

It's up, but the additional pages/ data is taking far longer than I imagined/ hoped for.

I did find a good book which helped me:
"Creating Web Pages Simplified" by Mike Woodbridge & Brianna Stuart.
At least now I have a layout which makes a little more sense to me....just need to dedicate more time to the "project".
Thanks for asking!
