It happened again last night - very nice hit :)
It seems that the hot pixel to left of the track is associated with the hit because there is no trace of it on other frames (there were 57 in total) - probably scintillation in the glass cover or one of the filters..

I'm amazed that you get so few cosmic ray hits. Every exposure over about 1 minute with my ST8 or ST10 will have multiple hits. My atik camera doesn't seem to be affected as much but still gets some. Maybe it's because I live at altitude on a granite hill. They are not all cosmic rays but can be radiation from the rock.

Cool - don't even need an electric blanket on those cold winter nights. :P

We are all exposed to background radiation all the time. I suppose it is what caused the slow DNA damage that increases our cancer risks as we get older and the increasing foetal abnormality rate in older mums.
Still need the wood fire to keep the house warm though.;)

However, it also drives the evolution (to some extent). .
Without the random changes in DNA, there wouldn't be one.. or it would have been (much?) slower..
