After scounting around the Blue Mountains during the two week downpour around Sydney I returned last weekend to mostly clear skies.

Some high cirrus clouds and light pollution were still an issue but I'm not complaining. It was great to get out there at night follow some trails and come across plenty of local wildlife i.e. Wombats, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Owls and even a slippery eel.

As a reference here is a link with photos I took a few weeks back.

Nice shots Carlos, the lighting of the rocks/mountains looks amazing a lot of detail in there is that moon light/light pollution/light painting(i dont know hows your paint an area that big) or stretching the image shadows in post. Whatever it is it looks very nice.

Is it due to the light pollution but the stars look a little too blue to me in the 1st 2 shots.

Cool shots. Man, they need to do something with LP. It's ridiculous now. Even from Katoomba. It's not really Sydney at fault but all the industrial parks lit up at night that have been spawning outwest between Paramatta and Penrith over the past 10 yrs. If they fixed that or at least turned the bloody flood lights off at night we'd have 80% of the problem fixed.

Thanks Matt :) I stretched the shadows a fair bit so that you can notice the cliff sides, there was no way my torch was going to illuminate them from this distance.

Yeah the light pollution does play havoc with the stars a fair bit, its a bit of both my cooling down the sky in post and the light pollution. It's evident to me now that the only way to have darks skys is to drive a minimum 5hrs west of Sydney.

Thanks Adam, that was the lucky last shot of the night :)

Eskerrik Asko Marc :) I know I know, can you believe that they light up the three sisters all night with giant spot lights both my panoramas 1 and 2 you can see the valley in the distance lit up for km's by these offensive lights, talk about disrupting our nocturnal wildlife!

Thank you very much Rodney :)

Thank you very much Jonathandeal :)

Thanks Andrew I'm glad you think so :)

Thanks Mike I'm glad you like them! :)

Thanks Ross :) hahaha no, not really I've been on graveyards for the last 2 years. I'm totally nocturnal now. I just spend 20 mins in the sun each day walking my dog :rundog:
