Had to put up a fresh Jupiter.

First at 10fps and second at 5fps both with gain at 80% to keep the onion truck at bay.

Used cat cooler for the first time. Although I didn't test image before and after cooling internally, my opinion is that image was relatively steady for such a night. Stars twinkling like hazard lights at 6:30 and starting to settle down a bit by 7:30.

Comments always welcome.

Lovely colours & 3D look! The 5FPS one wins to my eyes.

Weird conditions tonight..Jupiter looks like its boiling yet nice details present.

I wasn't going to image tonight, but I had to find out seeing conds. via the laptop; by the time I go to that trouble I may as well fire a few off.

Well done.

The 2nd one's great Lester. How long did the cooler take to cool the telescope? My C11 can take up to 2 hours to adjust.

Speaking of cooling Lester, I came across an idea yesterday which I implimented tonight. Seems to work, making my SCT cooler obsolete.

Hi Graeme,

I had the cooler running for just over an hour. The tube internally was still 1.8 degrees above ambient, as the outside temp was dropping quickly.

Thanks Asi,

Do you like the second image best because its less green? I thought there was more detail in the first one.

Are you going to spill the beans on the new cooling idea?

Nope, nothing to do with the colours, no horizontal lines in the 5 framer.

In a word: nope. It will take quite a few horses to pry this cooling info outa O'l Asi....:D

He fills the OTA up with ice a day before he is ready to image, by then the ice has melted away leaving a nice cool mirror.

BTW the second is better IMO. But with conditions the way they are it would have been hard pulling any more detail, unless you were very lucky.

Nice pair you've got there Lester. I can't really separate them. Both have some nice features.

Thanks Andrew and Robert,

If the seeing improves before the soccer comes on a 2am I may try again, but no promises.
