Hi all,

My dob got a little too much moisture the other night and the chip board has swelled in places around the edge of the base, making some sectors really difficult to turn through. I have dried it out but still the problem is there.

Has anyone got any suggestions for a fix on this?

Thanks

Richard

Thanks, lads. I will have to do something as drastic as this in the future as things will simply get worse. A bit disappointing when the old chipboard meets the H2O. But apart from the dodgy base, the optics are fabulous on my GSO 16" that I just got from Andrews Comms. Been busy getting lots of views lately.

Cheerio,

Richard.

 Yes Richard , a fellow club member up here has just got the 16 inch GSO from Andrews as well and its optics are also very sharp , we were all mightily impressed , Saturn was very good , a bit bright tho  .

A good trick is prior to assembling the chipboard components is to coat the bare chipboard surfaces with some silicone sealant and allow to dry. Use a thin paintbrush dipped in silicone sealant to coat the screw holes. You can give the mount a good going over with a quality car wax to finish off.
Cheers!

I had the same thing happen to mine. I just cut a circle of cardboard from a large cardboard box and inserted it in between the two layers of chip board. Worked a treat.
