Using a canon 300 d standard lens , piggy back on a 70mm ar with illuminated reticle (however did not have to touch mount in most of the long exposures such was its good behaviour)
The first shot was 2710 seconds at 200 ISO slightly adjusted but no dark frame subtract and this is a single frame I have not stacked any of these yet.
The second was at 100 iso 1740 seconds minor adjustment of brightness and contrast

Alex,
Apply some darks and flats to those and they would look fantastic.
They're wonderful as they are for single exposures.
45 minute exposure, wow!
Well done.

Wow - and we saw it first, here on IIS. Terrific images Alex, quite an astounding amount of detail. Boy, are we lucky to live in a country blessed with such beautiful skies.
Cheers

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.
The mount is not up to much more than wide field, manages 400 ar ok 150 sn is managable with close attention, 150 ar 1200 fl..now that is a real effort.
The night these were taken the 300d was sitting on the 70 and the 150 sn..only took a few short exposures thru 150sn. Wide field is so instantly rewarding I miss the other stuff.
Looking at all the shots upto 1000 seconds is perfect at 400 iso. I recon on a dark night with less moisture I will make the hour if I just try one shot for that battery life.
I hope that beginers realise that with some rather basic eqipement ($200 scope and mount from **** Smith will do it and a camera with bulb function, a camping trip to a dark site and you can get these with more ease than a Horse Head shot
