Tsunami Sculpture

According to recent studies, much of the WA coastline is sculptured by mega tsunami of the recent past (geologically speaking). Caused by quakes similar (but larger) to the 2002 Sumatra quake.

This rock formation is probably one or 2 mega-tsunami away from collapse.

Far west coast of WA, June 2 2013, lit by last rays of twilight.

I seriously can not stop looking at this one. I come back to it every day. Why isn't this on FB with a squillion likes yet? I just got myself a monitor calibration device so that I can keep my monitors up to date at all times (and no more uncalibrated lappy when I travel), and the foreground tones in this image are mesmerizing. The sky is of course lovely as always, but it's the lighting on that foreground that really makes this image.

Especially love how you have captured the Southern Cross just above the outcrop!
And the Magellanic Cloud adds to the interesting backdrop.
Your eyes are drawn to both foreground, then background, alternately.

Thanks mate :) I need one of those calibrators. I've had enough of wondering whether my stuff is correct or not?

Yeah, amazing how the tones change with lighting. The bedding is really obvious when side lit by moon, but in this light it smooths the details and gives it a creamy look. Hadn't really planned it, just a test image before starting the timelapse.
