Hi Guys.

Something happend with my settings on my gemini and my limits got reset. Seems to be a common problem with the GII. Anyway, my camera got mashed into the mount and broke off the power connector to the camera, grrrrr. The camera is ok but the lead has snapped off of the connector. I'll have a better look this weekend and see if I can repair it but...

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement from. I've sent two emails to SBIG and had no replay. I dont need a full power supply just the connector at the end of the lead. I'm hopping they are a standard and not custom made for the camera.

Get this, I log on to the SBIG website to see if they have a replacement power supply, which they do. I sign up add it to the check out $54 US, no problem, calculate postage, $83. Thats just for the postage not including the power supply, WTF!!!:eyepop: Email SBIG to see if they can offer standard mail.... no reply x2.

Just as well it's cloudy.

Thanks
Sandy

Hold the phone, they just replied to my first email.

Get this, they want me to go ahead with the order pay for it and then they will check to see if the postage will come down. Eh...

Express international postage for an item of this size and weight should be about $20 say $25 by the time they put a service fee on it, but $83 postage for a cable is daylight robbery.

I was considering the OAG and the filter will with the 36mm filters for this camera but if every replacement part ends up costing me $83 postage I have to consider my options here.

Thanks

Maybe the manual for your camera has the specs for the power connector or Jaycar or similar can suggest a replacement if you show them the broken bit.
The freight cost is typical of a lot of US companies these days, SoftwareBisque sold me a DVD once and wanted $97 postage. They eventually accepted my suggestion and let me download the software.

From the manual:

The connector itself is available from Element14 for $8.20:

Element14 doesn't have a photo for it, but RS Components does (they charge $14 each):
