Big lightning storm over Auckland last night. I set the SONY up on tripod south facing from the dining room window. IS 50, f32, 30 second exposure. Missed most, as you do, but caught this one across the sky.
Sent it through to the paper and it got shown. Just waiting for the $$$ to start rolling in .... Yeah, Nah

Good for you

Getting something of you work published is not always something you want.

About 35 years ago while working on a classified program I re-designed some interface equipment that made a "lemon" work like a "Rolls Royce". I re-designed it, modified drawings, built additional interfaces etc.

For my own use I kept written notes of everything I did that I eventually incorporated into a report. I sent all my notes etc. to the project management when the project was complete.

About three years later a "maintenance manual" properly registered as an "ABR", arrived on my desk. I don't know how many copies were produced but probably no more than ten. When I opened it up I found it was a collection of my notes and drawings just as I had written them (how embarrassing) including some ideas that I never incorporated. If I had known they wanted a manual I could have written a proper one.

Cheers Guys, always fun to see it out there in the 'wild'. It also got up onto weatherwatch as well. I'm doubly famous ... or infamous ... stiil no money though.

The SLT SONY just makes it too easy but don't tell anyone ... shhh ;)

>Barry : 15 years ago I designed a web interface to the CRM software that my employer at the time used. Made it heaps easier for Contact Centre staff to manage customer calls. Then I ported it to a mobile solution for engineers so they had it live in the feild to manage their customers. Both are stil in use ( albeit with lots of new features ) both have never fallen over other than from outside catastrophes outside our control.

I didn't get any money from that either .... :(

Maybe I should have written a manual .....

Well done, Brent. Great shot, too. :)

You guys have got some wild and woolly weather over there at the moment!

We're supposed to be expecting some unsettled weather here in Canberra this weekend, too. Looking forward to some stormchasing, if it gets that far!

Nice one Brent.

Apparently there was some spectacular lighting combined with stars (as we were above the cloud) on our flight home but SWMBO didn't wake me up to see or photograph it. We both had window seats (A380 14K and 15K) so it wasn't like I'd be making her move to get to the window and the a77 was in the cabin bag at my feet.

Great shot. Every time I've tried to get a lightning shot it's been just out of frame. Well done
