Tree in the Paddock

Another go with the 6D and 14mm Samyang on the Polarie.Slightly cropped and adjusted in Picasa may have a go on CS2 later.Due to a tree quite near and the hill it was hard to get a good perspective.Still the tree was a good find less than 1km from my house and you can drive almost right up to it.All criticism appreciated.I had the Polarie on 1/2 speed mode with ISO at 3200 then 6400.

Nice work Derek. Great find having some nice foreground so close.

Do you need the 6D and 14mm on a tracker? Going by the old rule of 600/500 you should be able to have about 42/35 second exposures without much star trailing. I've recently aquired the same equiptment and was taking 25 second shots at ISO 6400 and if you use some noise reduction (I was using Lightrooms inbuilt NR) you get very nice shots I have a couple of examples in my post on this forum here (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=108545) or in this post (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=108268) I have some straight of of camera shots inc 30 seconds untracked @ ISO 6400.

The toughest thing I've found with that combo of equiptment is getting the focus on the stars sharp, even on with the live view 10x zoom it can be tough.

Nice work again Derek, but they're still too brown and quite dark in the corners.

Are you using the lens profile to help correct the vignetting? And the colour balance looks off - needs a lot more blue by the looks of it.

H exposure was 30 seconds max.Thanks Mike no lense profile applied and thanks for the feedback will have a more serious go at post processing the next time.This is a steep learning curve for me.

Personally, I think the colours look OK. That's typically how they come out of the camera.

If you then alter the white balance, it will either warm up or cool the sky further. Salt and pepper to taste!
