Hello,

More imaginary fun.

An "artistic impression" of Antares rising.

Photographed in the region between Mudgee and Coonabarabran.

Sky layer imaged with Nikon 100mm F2.8 lens on QHY8L OSC CCD.

Terrestrial layer imaged with Sony a550 DSLR and Minolta 70-210 F4 lens.

Processed with Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop CS2.

The photo is here http://smu.gs/ZTf3wl

What do you think?

Thanks for looking.

Ross.

Interesting presentation Ross, and great deep sky image of the area.
Is this abstract, or do your have in mind a point of view (planet) off in that direction?

That's an interesting idea nicely executed, Ross. Well done!

Nice work Ross

Imagine being able to see that in the night sky with the naked eye.

Glad you like it Lester.

Hi Rob.

I have had an interest in imaging Deep Sky Objects from a terrestrial point of view for nearly 2 years and have experimented a lot with focal lengths from 50mm to 500mm, but it's only now that I have accumulated enough Photoshop skills to produce anything presentable.
The images are "imaginary" and "artistic". I make no claim to reality. Although I have tried to keep the focal length, FOV, latitude, azimuth and altitude constant for both the "Sky Layer" and "Terestrial Layer" that I combine.
Is this any different to the "stacking" we do with DSO's?..I don't know, and it doesn't matter.
I am having a lot of fun producing these images and I will continue developing this idea.

I'm really glad you like the photo.

Thank you.

Thank you Rick.

I wasn't sure how these "imaginary" images would be accepted so I'm very happy you like the photo.

Glad you like the photo Ric.

It would be nice to see these objects rising and setting with the naked eye...even more fun than watching the Sun and Moon rise and set.

Thank you.
