Yes, when they fall out of your camera bag onto concrete 2 floors below they cannot be repaired again, ask me how I know !
...... oh... otherwise a very nice lens even better than what I ended up replacing it with which was the Nikon 12-24. Ken Rockwell's review tells it pretty much right.

Seems to be most recommended lens for nightscape shots when using a crop sensor camera.
Mine has been ordered and is on its way :)

Remember that for some Nikon bodies you need the Tokina DX II which has the Silent Wave Motor built into it, the first incarnation did not.

The only lens I like more in that space is the Nikon 12-24, and it is many many more dollars.

Its a decent lens. Had mine out a few times now. Takes great milky way shots at F2.8.

I had a problem with my Tokina 11-16mm not reaching infinity focus.
This can be adjusted quite easily by following the procedure as described in the following link:

I have made the adjustment and now I am waiting for clear skies to test it properly.

I've got one for sale in Icetrade... I've moved to a full-frame sensor, hence the sale. Cracking lens for a crop chip.
