Roll up, roll up. Item number one: Andrews UWA 15 mm 2 inch eyepiece. Used once.
Now, I love my Andrews 30mm UWA. When Bintel was asking $99+ for their 2 inch plossls, the Andrews UWA 30 was definitely a bargain. And it’s still good, especially for the DSO hunters with undriven scopes. You can almost leave the finder at home.
But the 15, well that’s a whole nother thing. You might have read some of my disparaging comments elsewhere on this forum. I dunno, maybe it’d perform OK in a long focal length scope, but personally I doubt it. Eye relief is short, coma is insufferable in my F6 dob, bits of grit inside it. (Actually, my 30 has paint flakes too, but it only matters when I’m looking at the moon.)
Still, as they say, YMMV.
It retails for $149, I think. Highway robbery. Personally, I’d be ashamed to sell it to anyone. So I figure we might as well have some fun. I’ll auction it, with all proceeds to be donated to Mike’s IIS website. What’d’ya reckon? 24 hours, highest bid wins, I’ll even pay postage. Hell, surely someone’s curious enough to want to own the worst eyepiece in history.
Opening bid: $10.00
Come on guys/gals. Do it for Mike.
Auction closes 8.00 pm tomorrow (Friday 16/6/06).
Happy bidding,
Brian.
