To follow up on my thread about the Adaptor to marry the Orion Accufocus to a Crayford (here) http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=10782,

This continuing thread is the method I used to Mount the motor to the scope.

After bending all sorts of bits of metal and not being happy with the result, I ended up trying a piece of PVC angle.

The pics below show you the bracket attached to the scope. I think it is very neat.

Pic 1: shows the PVC bracket

Pic 2: Marking the holes in the OTA (gulp) Notice the plastic protection over the marks, so when I drill, the drill doesn't skate all over the OTA engraving pretty patterns in the paint job.

Pic 3: I didn't feel like pulling the scope apart so I taped a Plastic bag inside the OTA to catch all the metal filings. It worked excellent!

Pic 4: The finished job

Accufocus works a treat.

Darren,

That's why I put the pics in, to give people ideas. No good keeping them to myself!

P.S. I used small nuts and bolts thru the OTA. I didn't like the idea of having 2 sharp self-tappers sticking out inside the OTA.

legend ken

does the pvc angle have adjustable slots or did it just happen to be the right height for attaching everything square?
