Hi,
I watched on Teev last night the Brit film Sunshine. I enjoyed it, noting meanwhile that it owes a lot to several other movies. There is a whole genre like that which I love seeing on rerun.
It even had Freddy Krueger in it, as a nutty evangelist spaceship captain.
The SFX was top notch I thought, and the soundtrack impressive, reminding me of "2001" and Michael Mann's "The Keep".
The Wiki article says Prof Brian Cox (no bad jokes this time) was the scientific adviser to the film, and I reckon he made a good move in not insisting on closer scientific accuracy. There are several glaring (yep, pun) inaccuracies as always in these films, but fidelity was not the point of it.
I reckon the producers made a blunder in that they should have had Brian Cox IN the film, in a cameo role. Then they would still be pulling in revenue from reruns headlining him.
Cheers
