This evening 18:45 local dst (Wed 4:45 AEST) I saw with my Genesis Jupiter only 11 degrees from the Sun. The Sun was about 25° high. Really amazing with a 10cm scope thanks to the very transparent blue sky.
As this is more common in most parts of AU than in NL this can be a real challenge for you !

Very very gutsy attempt.

The price for failure could be blindness. Goto would reduce (but not eliminate) the risk. Using a camera might be a safer alternative - if there is a slip, you only lose a CCD.

I agree.

Don't try this at home.
