A Time Lord bows out!

Sad news or happy, depending on where you liked him or not:

Oh yeah, I agree, I vote to bring back Romanadvoratrelundar (or Romana, for short). Then I would be totally in love with Doctor Who :D

Sad news! I liked Matt Smith, as did my kids... I wonder why Dave Tennant and Matt bow out after 3 or so years. I am sure they will look back in a decade or so and wished that they stayed for another couple of years... :(

Not too sad, he didn't really do it for me. Its about time we had a proper woman doctor!

Why do people keep saying this? There are both male and female timelords - Romana was a female timelord. Why is there an argument that a male timelord suddenly become female? The character is pretty much asexual as it is.

Is it just feminism? A male character who has been around for 50 years must be replaced with a female one in the name of sexual equality?

If that's the case, then I insist that in future productions of Sense and Sensibility, Elizabeth Bennett be recast as male!

Read this article, as it gives you an idea why they leave:

Although there have been two incarnations of Romana and despite my earlier quip about voting for a female Time Lord, I agree, for the current doctor to suddenly change gender would be a little strange and may put a lot of people of the show anyway, so it would be a very brave move on Steve Moffats part.

As long as they don't get someone like Sylvester McCoy (he was the worst incarnation in my view) I will be happy with whomever they get. :D

No thanks! Female Timelords - yes. Female doctor - no.

I had read it already... more of a generic "why? O why?" and disbelief...

Ah, so I guess it's about Dr. Who........to each his own.

I started reading science fiction probably three years after DW first appeared and am still a fan but that show just never "did it" for me.

Time for a bi-sexual timelord of either gender perhaps, anything goes these days me thinks.

Must be lonesome in the hills of Winmalee Steve? (just teasing)

OOOH, I can just see it now, with the Doctor having an illicit affair with The Master... Those naughty Gallifreyans

All this talk of a woman Doctor or the he/she be bisexual is just rot. The person portraying the character needs to be asexual.

It is hard enough at times to watch Torchwood with all that crap going on, it just isn't needed and you people wonder what is wrong with the world. :mad2:

It is just a show... not reality...

Steve and I are having a leg pull.

I thought the video clip was pretty funny but had some good concepts. It is intresting to note that many of the earlier doctor who actors were actually comedians. The youtube ads are a bit much but there is a torrent download somewhere.

David Tennant really captured the essence of the doctor I thought, however was the sexual tension really necessary? It never played a part in the earlier incarnations of Doctor Who. Matt Smith occasionally came up to an acceptable mark, but all too rarely (The Doctors Wife is among my favourites). I have also found that Coleman is one of the poorist companions we have been lumbered with.

Bring on regeneration and some improvement to the role. They could also expand the Jenny thread, which would fulfill the female Time Lord role since they had killed off River.
