View Full Version here: : Deep Gum
Here's a deep H-a image around the Vela SNR region of the Gum Nebula complex.
4 segments. 6 hours each segment with Proline 16803 and FSQ.
From Coonbarabran.

Excellent JG!
Vela is such a great region for mosaics...I'd love to see a higher res,the structures are incredible.

Terrific shot. The tendrils are very well defined. That's a very rich area of the sky.

Very nice John. Lacks a little bit of contrast though.
Its a great area for mosaics.
I worked it out the other day it really needs about a 16 image mosaic like Rob Gendlers to capture the whole thing with a 110mm F5.6 or FSQ.
RH200 would be handy if it were reliable to get the data faster. It would make a mosaic more practical if it were able to be guided well.
Greg.
Lacks a bit of contrast? LOL, you funny guy.
Pentax 300mm lens on PL 16803 the best bet for large scale mosaic of this area. Or go with FSQ ED with the large format focal reducer.

Great image John! I agree with Louie though, I'd like to see a higher res image to appreciate it properly.
I will post one. Something happened with the compression when I uploaded it here. It was originally much larger.
Thank you. I'm going to rework it a bit as I don't like some of the mosaic assembly, and there are 2 new segments to add to this.
And you shall as soon as it do a little rework and the 2 segments.

I did a 3 panels shot (https://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y2pM6TWHaxGtB-c_zscheOM67nLXC5XyGf9clLsxO0CALrbkT VgbUrlfueQYuzRaAiYZdLSH2bp7hRCWFJ3E crJ4dzGaKmYs-JZ66u6RDylrnQ/vela_ha_100mm_ff.jpg?psid=1)a while ago with a 50mm I think... can't remember for sure. There's so much Ha in the area it's not funny. Hard to know which way to go. I reckon the bit towards the pencil nebula is a cool spot though. Looks a bit more interesting.
