Getting out a telescope is like washing a car - almost guarantee rain!
I took an hour or so this afternoon fine collimating my VC200L (using Catseye tools cheshire amongst others). Got it SPOT on as far as I can tell, and waited to do a star test tonight.
Yeah right!
Put it away, back in the plastic tub, mount covered up again.
Just wanted to do a bloody star test! Sheesh!

Clear skies at 6pm. Out comes the scope. Clouds by 7pm, possible rain, scope away. *sigh*
It's an exercise regime at least...

The car needs washing... I'll just leave it outside the garage overnight.
So much for finer weather coming for QLD. Harumpf.

For contrast, today is the first really good day we've had since we left home on May 13. I did see Capella last night, through a hole in the cloud.

I use the oposite philosophy
When my car needs a wash. I leave it out for the rain
This almost guarantees that it won't rain

This is winter, its s'posed to be dry, clear and crisp. Too many people washing cars and buying telescopes for my liking.:)
Fishing is just as bad. I sometimes wait an hour for a bite and as soon as I put the rod down, reach for a drink or food. WHAM! Big bite. However that's not happening either 'cause the weather has been poor.:mad2:
I reckon one of you astro geeks won lotto and is buying up big withno consideration for the others. LOL:lol:
'fess up, lotto winner. You tell us who you are and we promise we wont forgive you.:D
Cheers:)
All I was going to do is some work on the chook mansion.
I'm up to 4.1mm so far with more on the way by the looks of it.
That's not even astronomy related although my mate calls my Australorp chickens Astronaut chickens. :D

It actually cleared here last night for a couple hours. By then I was like "Bleh, whatever" and went about my other chores.
MAYBE check in an hour or so.
Still hasn't stopped raining here.
Up to 22mm in the last 24 hours, at least the water tank is getting a much needed top up.

I'm not complaining. You could now drown in my tanks. 2 weeks ago they were only knee deep.
