I have been hearing bits and pieces about this one, but it looks like the first consumer-grade light field camera is out. Lytro (https://www.lytro.com/)

It is a constant f2 aperture with dynamic focusing after the shot has been taken.

Been playing with some of the pictures in the gallery and it looks very interesting indeed. Particularly for those hectic moments like the swoop of a tern or my son's cat striking at a mouse, where I never get focus quite right.

Now to find a lazy $500...

I had one of these and they certainly do what they say (BTW they came out over a year ago!) Only issue is that the actual camera itself has a very small screen to composing is a little hard. With time and practice it could be useful. One idea I had was to take a shot and then create a series of shots with slightly varying focus points to create a time lapse.
Anyway I ended up deciding I didn't have tme to learn my new DSLR and this so I sold it.
