I shot this mosaic about a month ago. I had 3 clear nights and good seeing.

TEC110 fluorite and FLI Proline 16803 on a PMX. Vixen guide scope and SBIG STi guide camera.

4 panels, each 2:45 hours consisting of Ha O111 plus red, green and blue each panel.

Super image Greg. Don't think I've seen anything like it before.

Thanks Peter. Its my favourite part of the Southern Sky.

The Proline and the little TEC scope have a very wide field of view so 4 panels was feasible. I may add to it but that would then require a minimum of 2 more, and to go all the way round it would 10 more! It adds up fast.

Thanks Marc. I did a repro on the NGC 6188 to fix up the stars as well.

Cheers Larry. Its an intricate area.

Thanks Ian. I was happy with that little scope. Its working out nicely.

I can't keep up with you John. But I may very well do some more panels before its gone for the year.

Thanks H. Its very easy to overdo it with such powerful software.

Really nice result indeed Greg, great field size :eyepop:...as John says it could use so many panels you would be..... spending 120hrs on imaging the one object?..I mean imagine that  how ridiculous :screwy: .....

Seriously, it's nice for me to see actually, as I said with your Fighting Dragons, the resolution was about the same as my 12" under Newie skies, but here I can see a difference now as I have imaged a part of that area you have there from Wallaroo (thank god )

Perhaps it will be an ongoing project. I'll grab some frames whenever it and I are available!

Very nice Greg. I really like the detail and the colouring looks great.

Just out of interest how fast is your system? I am around f5.6 with the 4" and get halos on the bright stars. Do you use a fast system and do you use Astrodon filters? I am using Astronomiks which have been exchanged once already and note that your images don't have the halo problem mine sometimes do have. I wonder if it is the filters, the f ratio or if it is a combination of both.

Thanks Paul Are you using a reducer to get F5.6?

The TEC110 is F5.6 and uses a flattener as well. I find the Astrodons are quite good with reflections. Haven't much of an issue there. I generally find Astrodon overall to be of a high standard.

Greg, I am using a reducer to get to 5.6. That I think is part of the problem with reflections. Might have to consider getting some Astrodons to sort this reflection issue.

Looks great ! well done Greg.

I'd say so Paul Not 100% sure but I think reducers/correctors are harder on reflections than flatteners. I suspect flatteners only have very mildly curved lenses.

Thanks Louie. Good to hear from you mate.

That's very nice Greg; nice tight stars across the whole mosaic, seamlessly stitched together! The processing / colours are superb, lots of detail there as well :thumbsup:

Thanks very much for the kind words Jeff. I am pleased with it. I intend to extend it on the next few trips as Vela sets for the year. I managed to get 2 panels imaged in one night. I think next time I would be lucky to get 1 1/2. So I'll try to get another 5 panels if I can.
