Well that's a shame. It would've gone well with your EQ6!

I have noticed that with a few items I have bid on, that someone who has not bid at all wins at the last microsecond. You have to put in a bid at the top of what you want or can afford to pay. Don't creep up to be just in front, put in your absolute maximum from the start. Then the snipers don't win. Or at least you make them pay more!

Hey Eric, I'll be selling my C8 one day soon when I can get it back from Asi.
It was new in 1975, I have had it all the time. Its orange with forkmount, wedge and home made tripod. Not computer controlled.
Depends on how long you want to wait.

Sorry Eric...I purchased this scope as a foot stool for my observatory.
I wanted to be the first to have a Foot stool made by Celestron.....lol

I always wait then bid in the last minute of the auction, maximises your chance of winning.

Yes, unfortunately, I've learned to do that too (last 30 seconds I had to resort to to get an iPod!). Bid once, as late as you are game to try and as high as you are prepared to go.
Unless you know you can't be around when the item ends... then just bid once as high as you are prepared to go.

Man those deals are so sweet.. Between Astromart, Ebay and Gecko.. My days are spent wondering oh what can i afford.. Lots of good deals going. Saw a C9.25 go for 900USD with XLT coatings. And C8's are very tempting, but i would also go for a Meade SCT at the right price.. (read cheap).. The rational is that i have almost given up trying to find a mount to hold my 10" Newt i think a platform would be best, so the best i can do is a SVP or EQ5 2nd hand with a 2nd hand OTA. That i can possibly swing the budget for.
Lester, i am in the market for a C8 thinking about adding up the bread crumbs for a C9.25 but alas to far out of reach.. But an older C8 would certainly be tempting. The Dobs geting a bit tiring to move around. I want something simple to setup and go. Let me know if you want to part with it.

Netwolf.

no worries Lester. I'm not desperate in getting a C8. Just happen to come across one at EBay. If Netwolf wants it, go for it :) im also in the market maybe for the Vixen VMC200L . Which one would you guys prefer out of:
Vixen VMC200L/C8/Meade 8" SCT?
Oh btw, due to not winning to scope and depression, ive got myself another 8" F/4 scope lol. Its the GSO one.

Hey Eric,
I know a VMC200L thats available see the Buy and Sell forums
See: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=10309
Its in HongKong though but it looks like its in good nick. If only i could afford it pluss the shipping. I have heard very good things about these scopes and would definetly consider it as opposed to a C8 or even a C9.25. The open tube should mean less cooling time.

You can't go wrong with Lesters C8 Wolfie, I guarantee it! If you want to see what it can do in the imaging department, have a look in the solar system forum :)

that is exactly the one i want to buy off Tat from HongKong. He won't budge at but since total cost include shipping is over 1k, GST will apply and plenty of paper work at the airport.
Thanks anyway :)

Eric yes its exactly that wich keeps me at bay from OS purchases. Though they are very tempting. Sometimes people do sell them at a price that makes it worthvile though.
