I had a great day photographing (1,012 shots) the Campbelltown Steam & Machinery Museum's open day last weekend. They have a resident group of WW2 recreationists who put on a wonderful display of their equipment, clothing and skirmish tactics. There are some youngsters in the group who I wouldn't want to come across on a dark night under the wrong circumstances! LOL

Mix of photos from the OM-D and RX1

I like the retro look of them. By the way, do you shoot mono in camera or post-processing?

Thanks Larry :)

Thanks too Adam. I shot in both modes that day, just for fun. Half of these are in-camera monos from both cameras. The other half are conversions from RAW in Lightroom 4.4 on Mac.

Cool, for the ones done in camera - was there much tweaking post you had to do?

Really like the processing. Has the real gritty wartime correspondence from the battlefield.

Cheers Deeno :) Nailed it. I actually felt like one for the afternoon. I was crawling around with them and could half-imagine what it was like with projectiles whistling past my ears. Frightening.

Nice work Chris

Some of those shot look like they could have come straight from WWII.

Thanks Ric :) The day's shooting gave me a small feel of what it might possibly be like as a war correspondent. No bullets, thankfully!

Good shots, but sure it's meant to be WW2? Guys have got M16's etc (and an interesting faux-M1 Garand). I spose being kids though, it doesn't matter ;)

Yep, some of the kids just bring their own "weaponry". Many of their props, however, are the real thing.

Excellent series Chris (love the processing as well) and totally agree, makes your hairs stand on end !

Thanks so much Andrew! It would have been a frightening proposition to be out there with the men - taking shots of others... taking shots at you.

Hi Chris,

This is an excellent series of photos, has the right elements for a genuine vintage look.

Cheers
