Hello,

maybe another picture as M82 ? ;)

Location : North East of France.

224x20s exposures with a bw sensor Toucam.
Astrograph: Takahashi Mewlon 180 w/ 0.5 focal reducer
Mount: Tak em200usd3
Date: june 10th 2006

Processing with Iris; ondelets: a few ;).

Very short exposures are due again to the fact that the webcam is not moonlight proof ;) (gotta do something uh?)

Clear skies.
Pierre.

Hi Pierre

We are used to colour around here, maybe that's the reason for the deafening silence? ;) Or maybe it’s too far North for us Southerners? :(

Humour aside, that is an extraordinary image for a (modified) webcam. The dust lanes and fine detail are well captured and presented, showing excellent tracking and processing.

You are certainly getting some amazing images with the modified webcam. Makes me wonder why I am still dreaming of owning an SBIG ST10XME one day, at A$12,000, something that will never happen unless I win the lotto. :prey:

Cheers

Dennis

Hey Pierre, that's a fantastic image.

It particularly caught my eye that you're using a Mewlon 180. I have one of these dedicated for planetary imaging. I hadn't dreamed it would be so effective for deep sky. The 0.5x focal reducer you're using, is it a homemade model? the Talkahashi one I think was only x0.85 or something similarly useless.

Is your webcam a Toucam or similar with the standard long exposure mod?

cheers,

Lester
