I'm busy hyperventilating!
I've just spent the last half hour drooling with the other astro chicks on fb over this. August seems too far away to buy the tickets grrrrr. I have an August date by the looks for when tickets go on sale in Brisbane. Have registered for the pre-sale :D.
If I wear an "I love Brian" t-shirt, take a selfie, fold it up as a paper plane and missile it his way on stage will he take notice of lil me:question:. Probably get thrown out knowing my luck....:confuse3: Hmmmm many more months to get creative! ;) Hubby loves Brian so he'll be with me- probably throw me at him just so I can get him out of my system, oh sweet sweet bless him if he happens to trip me and I somersault all the way down to the stage.

Lmfao @ Suzy  we were all over this on Facebook last night weren't we hehe  he'll yes I'm in :)
I'm going to have to make a banner bigger than your selfie t-shirt with pick me pick me in it hahaha :P
Lucky we going to a different show there could be some eyes getting scratched out just to see who gets in the door first lmfao :question:;)
Dam I have to get some brownie points at work from now till then it's on a week day dam it  I wonder how much the tickets are
I wonder if there is an age limit to these shows I would love to take my 12 year old son :)
Oh you play dirty Jen :help:
I need to hang around you.
I'm guessing (even expecting) the tickets to be over the $100 mark. David Attenborough's tickets through Lateral events (same organisers for this event) was around the $130 price. Which is why I didn't end up going to that one.
I can't see it being a problem with taking your 12yr old son , esp. for a science talk.

Shallow astro chicks here.:)
I thought women valued intelligence.;)
Not that Mr Cox is dumb but he pales significantly when compared to Leonard Susskind.

Susskind's "mate" Stephen Hawking can give you a character reference.

All this is a bit crazy. You are not going to get much more for your $s than what you get out of a good book or good BBC doco by Dr Cox, whose work I do admire.
Re Susskind, in my opinion, he is one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists alive today. He is also humble and a great educator for those who want to go well beyond the pop-science level of understanding how the world works.

I would love to see him!! It is a bit pricey though.

I think pop science is great, the fact that people are drooling and swooning over a guy doing nothing more than explaining physics is pretty cool. There should be more guys like him and more sexed up media coverage of science and astronomy in the mainstream media. It's crazy that more people are interested in what Kim Kardashian is doing today than the latest images from the Hubble Space Telescope. If my kids were old enough I'd take them both. As it happens they are far too young - and after emptying my wallet on Opeth, Epica, Van Halen and Black Sabbath tickets this year already - I won't be paying for any live entertainment for the rest of it!

What, cold shower? :rofl::rofl::rofl:
Yeah - I was thinking of taking my science loving kids until I counted the cost... not sure now...
Certainly not cheap tickets.
I was reading that the first six rows will be able to meet Brian after the show, they also get an autographed book and a glass of wine. They will no doubt be the $350 tickets.
At that price the wine had better be from Professor Brian Schmidt's vineyard. :D

$350?!?!
I would LOVE to go but I don't get how they can charge so much
Hi Jen, yes I got two tickets as I will be going with Ron. :D
Hubby backed out saying there's no way he's paying more than $50 to see Brian . Would not budge the measly $25 more either for the $75 tickets, nope, I tried hard!
I've got to admit that along with others I too am surprised at the cost of the tickets. I tried to get the $75 ones on pre-sale but they were all sold out so I had to end up getting the $115 tickets. And that's nothing compared to the A Res. tickets of $155 and premium tickets of $195. The $350 price tag to meet him package is just down right insulting in my opinion.
I like Brian but on grounds that he's commanding such high ticket prices for a science talk (!), it put me off and I was spitting chips that I had to pay more than $75. If he wasn't commanding so much money with the rest of the tickets, I wouldn't had a problem paying the $115. But I definitely wouldn't have been paying more than $130. If I wasn't able to get the $115 tickets & had to pay more I wouldn't be going and I'd have no regrets.
I only pay $150 for Springsteen concerts for goodness sake, which is a full on no break 3 hour concert.
Brian better talk for more than an hour, educate me well, and look ridiculously good, is all I have to say.
Tanty over .
Am I narrow minded regarding the cost of the tickets? I'm seriously open to being educated here if anyone's got any input into why they may be so expensive.
Lucky girls .... and boys.
I would love to see him, but he wont be in Townsville, and the cost of going to Brissy would be too much with the tickets added on.
Tickets to see anyone these days have skyrocketed. I saw Leonard Cohen a few years ago, and cost a fortune (? about $200) and our seats werent great.
Brian is an entertainer as well, a bit of a package for sure, and I would pay quite a few $$ to see him in person. Probably not to meet him though, as I would be unable to utter anything legible out of my mouth.
 c'mon Suzy I'm sure that you would empty out your bank account to go see travolta ;):P
I paid $400 a ticket to go see Prince :D:help: :D
