Finally have an Astro Image, after 9 months, struuuth, still hasnt sunk in yet , , But 1st, I have to take my hat off to all you who are takin/showing astro images beyond the realms of this darksky happy snapper :thumbsup: Leyburn was a real Eye Opening experience, Gadgets & Progs to run them, unbelievable :eyepop:

Anywho, lucky I had the new battery bank & solar panel to install as the Bob'servatory's existing batteries were dead, having only 9.4V in them, possably due to an itchy cow taking out the old solar panel how ever long ago, so, counting my stars I had some image time :thumbsup:

Have also made a small step up from the 8" F4 to the 10" F4.7, thought this would be and improvement, wrooong, just found the upgrade magnified what guiding errors were there :rolleyes: welcome to another level of astro-photog :hi:

So, in the event of 1200mm F/L & Orion guiding phd with the Neq6p & its backlash, which comes free :thumbsup: the measily stock 600D slr managed 12 subs of 4mins, that Registax put together, the tiff output file was then left in this ducks hands fumbling through PS3 :rofl:

I thought this cropped version just worth posting, so hope it worth a squizz,, & any comment and/or critique is welcome , , ,

Hi Bob,
That's quite a good smooth image & amazing that it's only 48 minutes with a stock DSLR -
shows the benefit of a dark site.
You could get that backlash adjusted out & maybe also try the mod I did to my NEQ6 pro:

Thanx Dave, this duck is quite stoked with it actually, I only lifted the dust lane colour moderately, tho had to saturate them stars somewhat, , wouldnt like to show you my last effort on this two yrs ago, Lol. HavagoodN !

Hey, that's an amazing start Bob. Unusual to get such great star colours. No doubt the clear Leyburn skies and big aperture as well as processing.

There are programs to reduce star smearing a little in post from memory. You've got a LOT of faint galaxy detail there for sure :thumbsup:

Yes, Leyburn was very dark last weekend, an absolute pleasure to watch the Milky Way slide overhead until dawn on Sat and Sun mornings....

Cheers Russel, I like to keep at iso800 as used with this, kinda feel safer with noise levels and slightly better dynamic range than 1600, tho others have used 1600 with great results :thumbsup:

Hey Cheers Rob, I find that cheap optics give some stars both red & blue at various measures so i treat the blues seperately from the reds, unorthodox but still practical i feel. And yep, have a star smear fixer tute here somewhere, never thought at the time :rolleyes: Also lucky that guiding errors ran similar direction as dust lane, so not a major loss in most detail, kinda consider that very fortunate :)
