Greetings from Tasmania everyone :hi:

Currently on a three week photography trip around this great state. The main aim of the trip is to hopefully capture an aurora display or three but if that does not happen (and I am fully prepared for that possibility) then I am more than happy enough touring around, recharging my batteries after a long year at work. A few night scapes along the way if the weather cooperates will be just a bonus.
Already got a few that should turn into "keepers" but because I am traveling with my laptop and its not great for image editing screen I will be processing the bulk of my images on my return home.
Couldn't resist doing a quick edit of this random frame from a timelapse though. I will probably re-edit this on my return as well, or I may even decide to do a different frame. I'm pretty sure there is one with a nice Iridium flare in it.

Another awesome shot. Love the colours. That pinkish/magenta is that airglow or is that some broad type aurora?

What was the yellow glow to the right in the cloud - the moon?

Greg.

Thank you very much Ross and Greg:D

No aurora activity that I was aware of Greg. I think it was a combination of some airglow and the last hints of blue twilight. The yellow glow is light pollution from Hobart. I would think that you normally wouldn't get it that bad from this location but the clouds reflecting it back down made it worse.

Very nice Greg! I've spent quite a few nights at Swansea (I lived in Tassie for 10 years), and have never got sick of the view across the bay to the Hazards!

Thank you very much Carlos and Stephen :D It is certainly a iconic vista. Might even end up back here for another session before these holidays are over....
