for sale is a very nice quality 90mm f/1000mm doublet achromat. A great all-around, not super expensive, not dirty cheap telescope assembly.
The Orion ota is from 1997, Condition of the optics are very near mint; optics are super clear, baffling is present, and coatings permit excellent light transmission. Whilst it shows its age, the optical tube itself exhibits zero dents or dings, but it does have a few now-very-faded scratches on the far side of the tube (the opposite side of the "ORION" painted decal) And some paint touch ups. The focuser glides very smoothly on a full 1.25" rack-and-pinion system. The draw tube is anodized aluminum, not plastic! The finder is from a different scope, Optics of the finder have some light swirl marks, but you can still more than easily observe all 4 of Jupiters primary moons through the crosshairs. The finder stalk is in mint condition, but the original (4) base screws show minor rusting in the deep Phillips pits.
Quality of performance is very nice and definitely a mark of the much-better made Taiwanese instruments of the '90s. There was a reason they charged a higher price for this setup back then. Lunar views with an Ultima-barlowed 15mm Vixen LV is NICE! Purple spectrum is visible on the limb, but it is under commendable control and it does not creep into the middle of the view. Low power sweeps of M42 with a 40mm Moriya Kellner and 42mm Ultima are pinpoint to the edges. Jupiter's brightest equatorial bands, even with some chromatic aberration on the outer disc of the planet, clearly displays a faintly pinkish-brown colour. All in all, a two-thumbs up telescope.
The scope comes with a shower cap (because I never had the dust cap), Orion all-metal 6x30 finder. $125 buyer pays shipping
