Well a round trip of 950Klms over half of that serious 4x4 country to Bamboo Station. No cloud there for two years until we turned up.:rofl:
Cloud and rain that night and more cloud in the morning.
Did however manage a couple of H-Alpha shots.
The amazing thing was we observed the whole annular and ring of fire without any glasses. Yep the whole show through cloud with the naked eye. The white light images here are straight out of my Cannon 450d without any filters what so ever.:D
I think the guys at Tennant Creak had good conditions. Maybe Peter Ward has some great data.:confused2:

wow great work - love your pac men ;) but i have to say the full disk O shots are a treat, and the cloud by no way detracts from it - i think it adds some punch with filling the field of view ;)

Great result Ralph. What camera/scope combo did you use for the H-alpha?

I was disapointed to start with, as I really wanted to capture the ring of fire in H-Alpha. However one cant have everything. It was a great expirence to witness the annular with the naked eye. I had also planned an animation from start to finish but alas you have seen all the H-Alpha I could manage.
I am happy now as it was really a couple of great days and I am streets ahead of those who missed out because of total cloud.

Peter I used the 90mm SolarMax on the Vixen 130mm with the DMK51and reduced it with a Vixen .65 + .5 on the nose of the camera for a full disc.
Also had a 60mm Coronado on Megrez 80 but wound up only using it visually when able with the students.
