Hi,
This is a work in progress and a real test for the ED80.
Quite a task to process too, did a dozen different versions to come up with this image.
Also had to crop the image, as I decided to run without the baader fringe killer. For some reason it left strange rainbow arcs in the two top corners.
Equipment.
8" Newtonian astrograph f/4. on HEQ pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.
Unmodded canon 1100D, baader coma corrector, cooler box.
17 x 8 minute subs, darks and flat frames applied.
Median stack in DSS, processed in PS7.
Cheers,
Justin.

Nice, Justin! You've captured lots of nebulosity there

Thanks Laurie!
Just need some more data to make a smoother image.
Cheers,
Justin.
Nice, Justin ...
How big was the field before cropping?
I'd love to try it with ED80 and x0.8 reducer ...

Thanks Ian!
The field was 127 x 85 arc minutes, should be a lot easier with a 0.8 reducer.
Cheers,
Justin.

Been working on p-Oph as and when I can. Had it up to 3 hrs data, then had to throw out 1 hr thanks to way too much moonlight saturation of the field, so back to 2 hrs and a bit.
I focussed more on the side towards Antares, as I love the yellowish tones over that side, but have the "T-Rex" in the field as you can see:

Hi Lewis,
It's great area of sky, but complicated to balance the colours and contrast.
One day I'll crack a good image, looks like your on the way, look forward to your final pic.
Cheers,
Justin.

Justin, yours looks great - maybe we could combine data? I do "that" side, you do the other. Depth looks similarish.
Yours is progressing beautifully.

Thanks Lewis!
I know you can combine data from different scopes in DSS but the images have to be from the same camera.
I guess there must be a way from different camera's too.
Cheers,
Justin.

Hi Justin,
The start of a very good photo.
You have already got great nebulosity and nice colour.
I really like the composition.
Good luck.

Nice start Justin; just need some more data to smooth out the colour and it should be great!
