Managed to collect some data after dodging cloud.

Exposures 16x4 minutes for each RGB.

Image at sensor size 7MB

It was quite cold and clear. The data was collected around the zenith which minimises the effects of light pollution. I think the new hood extension was worth the effort.

It is a result like this that makes a sleepless night worthwhile.

The details in the field are very good but there's a lot of black clipping in your pic. I think you lost a lot of faint stuff. Love the colours though. Great data.

Love it Bert, but it really could be stretched further - there seems to still be a fair bit of whispy stuff missing, and the colour is more mute than usual in the centre of M8.

I get approximately the same colour with my 102 refractor with a 1hr 40 min exposure.

I am still working out how to make mosaics with this data. It is a bit hard when you have been up for two nights in a row.

Looking good, Bert. Which direction are the future panels planned for the mosaic? Toward the lower left you would get Gum77b and Gum78. The are faint Ha structures but I'd say you would have not problems getting them with your imaging rig. It would be great to see the mosaic plan. There are a few clear nights ahead so you'd really bring the data in for quite a few panels (I'd estimate 6 or so) working dawn to dusk. Script it!
