This is a single 30 minute exposure of the stars rising behind the famous 5 trees at IISAC2013.

Captured with the Canon 6D, 24-70mm lens @ 70mm, f/5.6, ISO640, 30 minute single exposure. No dark frame, no ICNR.

I love the colours of the Milky Way in the top left corner, and the subtle green from the airglow that was visible that weekend. It got stronger on Friday and Saturday nights, but was still visible on the Thursday when this was captured.

I really like this one, Mike. The colours are subtle and the trees make for a great contrast. It has a scifi feel about it. :)

Gotta get me a 6D!

That is a very good image Mike. I can see a trend developing here. The better shots tend to be longer and stopped down and lower ISO and use the Polarie or in this case a still. Clean, great colours, super sharp, great hues. Wonderful. Or they are panoramas.

Greg.

Thanks Greg, appreciate the comment.

Thanks H. I quite enjoyed a longer focal length star trails. The foreground really suits it at IISAC.

Thanks Ross!

Thanks Deeno. The lack of wind certainly helped! :)

Thanks for the comments, Greg. The high ISO has its place for some scenes and situations, but you're right, some of the better colours come out in the lower ISO shots.

Thanks Adam!

That's beautiful Mike! I love the smooth trails, and the colours of the blurred Milky Way gives it a nice warm feel.
