All,

Last night I had the pleasure of meeting Greg Gibbs somewhere around half-way between Wagga and Canberra for some shooting and jibber jabber.

After driving around some dirt roads, we came across a little scenic patch out the back of Coolac.

Here's my rendition of this year's shower, all captured within astronomical and nautical twilight.

Slightly larger version available here (http://users.tpg.com.au/hqureshi2/etaaquarids13.html).

Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
6 x 30 secs f/4.0 at 17.0mm iso3200

I got home around 8 AM, and, still haven't slept. I'm all kinds of wrecked. :)

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for the company, Greg. :)

Lovely image H. And well worth the effort that I saw you take to get it just right. Great to meet you finally and thanks also for the company. Got to love last minute decisions at 11pm at night :D

A great image H. Keeping with the dreamtime type look.

Petra,

Cheers. :)

Ron,

It was a good night. Got cold towards the end, but, we had a good time, especially when a random meteor tore through the sky. :)

Rob,

Thanks, mate!

Laurie,

Thanks, again!

Greg,

Here's to many more late night plans! Haha. I'm glad both of us were at a loose end. It was great to meet with you as well, after all these years (dA/IIS). :)

I had a closer look at the map of where we were... just up one of the dirt roads is a house encircled by trees. I hope that we didn't make too much noise, hah!

Cheers, all.

Ross,

Thanks, again! I'm quite intrigued by it, too. I had a version where I took a 4-minute exposure for the foreground, hoping to blend the static stars with the static background, but, the trailed foreground looked more artistic.

Greg,

Thank you! I'm hoping to do more of these types of images now. :)
