Took possession of a optec 2" rotator yesterday, but have run into a snag or two. One is easily fixed so I will not bother that but the other has me puzzles.
So I am using a mount hub pro to connect the rotator. I downloaded the ascom software and then connect up the MHP. I tried connecting via com 1 then it did not like that and told me to connect up via com 3. It says that com 3 is being used by another program. So it will not connect at all. How do I change the com port to something else and have a I missed something?

In xp goto device manager then select item to change then goto part that alows u to change the port number, have to do it sometimes with my qhy filterwheel. For win 7 similar select my comp then device manager then item.
Hope that get u going ?

Seems it is the cable that is not recognised. The cable is USB to RJ232. Do I need a driver for that?

I need to qualify the last question. This is not an adapter type RS232 it is a phone plug type connector with a USB on the other end. Hence the question.

Most of the USB to Serial adaptors use the prolific chip set..you should be able to download a driver....
(I use the Keyspan version...)

Ken the ones further down listed as complete serial to USB (RJ12) is the cable I have. There does not seem to be any links with regard to this cable. Hmmm puzzling.

Mark (Wysiwig) has helped me find the solution to the problem. There is a driver located on the optec site under downloads (it is marked as FTDI USB to serial). Install that and then the rotator works. Thanks Ken for your imput too.

RTFM strikes again. Only in this case most of the useful information is on the website rather than in the manual.

Get http://www.aagware.eu/aag_software.htm. AAG pixus, it's brilliant , free and just works.

But TheSkyX 10.2.0 already has all the described features built-in as standard features (I've been using them for months). Mind you, the UI in AAG-Pyxis is a bit better.
