Can anyone point me towards an australian canon dealer who can supply a canon 60Da with canon warranty. Most of the ones on the net seem to supply grey imports with there own warranty . Or are the grey ones ok ?

I got mine from Digital camera warehouse, they're online and also have a shop in Sydney.

I paid and extra $70 and got 2 or 3 years additional warranty.

Ted's cameras will order them in as well.

Canon will not let Harvey Norman etc sell them. I Tried many different stores to purchase on interest free , but with no luck.

Here are some gray import sites that will honor the warranty locally.

Have you tried Camera House? They have a store in Hunter St, Newcastle. You can make enquiries online.

Tried JB hifi who were very helpful but could not get hold of one. They gave me canons sales number and I was told that they no longer stocked this camera.I mentioned they'd missed a marketing opportunity after Sky and telescopes review in January which they knew nothing about. Camera house said they'd put out a wanted notice to their stores to see if anyone has one in stock. Looks like I might have to go to the grey Internet markets offering Australian warranties (not canon). They are certainly much cheaper , has anyone any suggestions of reliable ones? Still holding out for a response from camera house.

I can definitely tell you d-d-photographics are UNreliable. And if anything needs fixing/replacing under warranty they are fairly unhelpful and VERY slow. They used to be great a few years ago as they kept stock localy and you could get the product from an actual shop and pay net prices but the new owners don't have any stock in the country and it takes weeks to get anything from them.

There was talk of this and some suggestions in this recent thread:

Be warned that local warranty from grey importers means that they have their own technicians who will look at the camera for you.

Canon will not want to know you for bypassing their local distributors.

For entry level systems, it might be OK. But, for more expensive items, it pays to buy through official stockists.

I don't know if they stock the 60Da, or if they could get one in for you, but, I give ten thumbs up for Camera Pro in Brisbane.

See the PhotoContinental website. http://tinyurl.com/czdav47

They're on Logan Rd. Mt Gravatt - south of Brisbane.

They will beat any price and they're official Canon stockists. Ask for VeeJay in sales and say the Maidenwell Observatory sent you.

Tried photocontinental and they like others reiterate that canon have stopped supplying this camera. Digital camera warehouse may have one but they want $1639 , which is about twice the price of the normal 60D. Not sure i want to pay that much for the difference. Still waiting to here from camera warehouse , not expecting a result. Might be cheaper to get a grey import and pay a canon repairer if it needs fixing. Might just buy a 60D?
