SPX350 F36.2, PGRFlea3, Baader RGB filters, IR742nm.

Seeing was not bad and Saturn would remain good to vgood for 5-10 second intervals before wobbling in out of focus slightly then settling down again. Some structures visible with animation but only got 2 decent runs as seeing deteriorated approaching culmination. It is difficult to get consistently steady seeing over 18 mins.

RRGB1 1215hrs
RRGB3 1325hrs.

Thanks, John.

A wonderfully detailed set of images John, you’ve done really well given the seeing.

I was out last night too and was astonished by the at time rock steady seeing which lasted a few seconds to be followed by soft mush and I packed up just after midnight as it didn’t seem to be getting any better.

The image scale and detail in features such as the polar hexagon and the rings is quite delicious.

Cheers

Very nice work John, the hexagon is particularly well defined. Variable seeing is always such a pain but still a nice result. The need for a longer window of opportunity to capture multiple RGB data sets for derotation presents a whole new challenge.

Thanks for comments, I find bringing out the low contrast detail difficult as sharpening damages the rings and the planet disc. I do tend to over sharpen my images and still have more to learn. With the best seeing processing is way easier but don't get the best very often.

Nice set of images John! Like Dennis, I was having a visual look
at the same time.
