I did love this spot. Spent about 30-45 minutes there I guess. Was quite windy, with no protection on either side, but the view was gorgeous.

These are similar to the panorama 'On the Ridge (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/2013/04/29/on-the-ridge/)' posted yesterday, but they're single shots, not panoramas.

The first one is a landscape orientation, taken after I just arrived.
The second one is a portrait orientation, and is a single frame from the panorama - I liked the composition of it as an image on its own.

- Large 1 (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/download/402)
- Large 2 (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/download/405)

Both Canon 6D, Samyang 14mm, ISO6400, f/2.8, 30s exposure.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice Mike. How are you enhancing the stars? Love the resulting star colours and emphasis.

Greg.

I don’t know what it is Mike, but there is something just so wonderfully natural about these photos, that contribute to their stunning beauty. The processing seems really relaxed which belies the detail, tonal range and smooth transitions.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Larry, appreciate the comment.

Thanks Greg. I'm using the Star Spikes plugin. It does a pretty good job on some images, not on others.. works for some images, doesn't work on others. I'm enjoying experimenting with it.

Thanks so much Dennis, I love it when you wax lyrical! :)

Thanks very much :)

Thanks mate!

Thanks Carlos!

Thanks Josh.. I usually don't give my own images IOTW :) Unless I'm really proud of one and if it's been a slow week ;)

Love#1 . Very cool. The clouds work well with the milkyway.

Awesome shots Mike, I like that the sweeping cloud gives a sort of "drama" to the image! Top notch mate! :D

BTW, are you liking star spikes? I just started using it and think it's pretty awesome. I have been meaning to write some PS actions based on varying custom settings in it, the idea is to apply them to (star)trail lapses to give the impression of "stars twinkling" in the video output, currently I just batch the whole set at one setting which still looks pretty cool IMHO.

Great shots Mike.

I like the colours and the way the clouds make the stars "glow".

Ross.
