Too nice a day not to be outdoors today. We headed south, onto the Lion's road, then up into Border Ranges National Park. My son and I walked out to the Pinnacle lookout and I shot this pano with my old trusty Sony P200 point and shoot. Pretty happy considering it was on auto - had expected the sky and ground settings would vary too much.

Mount Warning in centre of field, with the surrounding edges of the ancient eroded caldera sweeping around on all sides.
Hmmm, actually they'd be "sweeping" further and looking nicer if I'd taken more pics, but really didn't expect any decent outcome from this. Live and learn :)

EDIT: Larger version now edited to include wider pano - I DID collect more shots after all

And a small version of the wider shot....
Showing more artefacts in sky colour, but worth it I thought.

Wow – stunning views with such clarity in the skies and horizon! The pano really draws you in, making feel as if you were there.

Cheers

Thanks Dennis. Yes, you could (can) just make out the blue of the ocean in the distance. I was pretty pleased with this souvenir taken with a 6yr old 7mp Sony point and shoot. I thought I regret not having taken the DSLR.

My 5 year old was very concerned where the big black shadow was coming from looking out towards Mt Warning. I'm not sure he really believed me when I suggested it was the big fluffy cloud back over our shoulder that was casting a shadow that big.
Helps with the 3D effect too I think on a bigger screen.

Cheers Carlos and Bob.
Bob, that's "The Pinnacle" lookout from memory. Plenty of dirt to navigate to get around the best parts, but no worries in the Accord taking it carefully. Was such a clear day knew we needed to go bush :)
