NEVER Boring Peter.
The detail and res when you zoom in is breath taking,:eyepop: absolutely.
When you zoom right out it seems to lose some definition. Is that because of the screen on my laptop or somthing else Peter.

I do all my processing on a colour calibrated 24" monitor (note to self: a 27" is well overdue) which has 1920 x 1200 native resolution....anything less will lose detail by merging pixels.

I've mused over why this system, despite its 90mm aperture, works so well. I can't say I really know the answer.

I suspect it comes down to using a extremely well corrected objective, stopped down, to probably make it perfect.

Couple that an etalon working with an effectively parallel wavefront: i.e no instrument induced hot spots or banding, it simply works.
The system has only been limited by seeing in my experience with it to date.

That said I hope be able to get to play with a 152mm Lunt for a short time
later in the year, so it will be interesting to compare the two.

Nice work Peter. How many frames are you stacking now? And; is this single or double stacked?

Thanks Paul, sorry for the late response, ... 'been away for a bit. This is a four frame mosaic, each run450 frames...or about 3 gig of data per run...which taxes even the fastest PC's at the moment.

Bad news for me is my GX died....:rolleyes: (failed sensor) and is on its way back to Canada for repair (or hopefully replacement) ...and we are really pushing it now for its return before we leave for the Eclipse on the 8th.

great work peter. I was thinking about buying a new monitor too. The dell ultrasharp U2713H looks like a good monitor.
